Hi Shelly - sometimes the flagyl and other antibiotics will make it go away. Mine ended up being really large (I forget how big but big enough that the doctor performing the procedure wanted me to stay the night, or two, in the hospital). I'd had it for a while though, and I don't think they realized it.. so it was growing, rather than getting smaller, even with all the antibiotics I was on. My procedure was done at a local hospital - it was a simple thing.. they did knock me out to do it though. And I had a tube for a week or so, to drain it. It was not fun, by any means, but the relief was really pretty quick. I'd been in a lot of pain from it.

Wow, I am going through same thing. Just had scan today. On flagyl and amoxicillian. My MD wants me to wait and see if infection goes down. I was told it is like a zit. Let me know what happens. I wish they could burn my divertidula shut so I would not have to go through this again.
Is the Mayo clinic conducting the procedure?
