Depression, Crohns Disease and Humira

by Judi on January 9, 2010

I have been MIA all over the internet for the past several months or more.  I had been on a depression medication, Celexa, which was giving me nightmares (ones I didn’t much enjoy), trouble sleeping and so, rather than speaking to my family doctor about it and getting something different, I just quit taking it.

Remicade IV Treatment

by Judi on January 25, 2009

Last Friday, I started Remicade in hopes of it working to keep my crohn’s disease under control. I am also continuing to take my azathioprine (imuran) daily.
I had been feeling so totally crummy.  It’s like I’d  been drinking a “lethargic” potion.. my body was so tired, my arms and legs so heavy – like

Switching Digestive Care Specialists

by Judi on November 11, 2008

With the issues I had at the first GI office – Digestive Specialists, with the first doctor I was referred to for my crohns, then switching doctors within the practice — bad idea, in my case, unfortunately.
I thought I liked the new doctor, actually… but after my last visit, she made a comment I later

Tired

by Judi on August 28, 2008

I am so tired.
I went to bed with the boys last night, around 9:00.  Slept fitfully, got up at 7.  That’s a lot of sleep.  Not an amount I normally need, but periodically it does my body good.  Not today.  I feel just as sluggish and sleepy as I did yesterday.

Crohns Makes Me Tired

I finished up my 14 day round of antibiotics (flagyl & cipro) on Tuesday.. actually, I only had one pill to take on Tuesday, so really, I finished most of it up on Monday.

By Thursday, my body was dragging so hard.  I could just sit in a chair and sleep.  I ended up going to

What does Crohn’s Disease Feel Like?

by Judi on August 12, 2008

Crohn’s disease affects such a wide spectrum, it’s hard to say what my crohn’s disease symptoms and pains feel like compared to someone else’s.

I know when I start feeling unknown pain in general, or get rashes, etc., my first place to turn is the internet.  I plug in my keywords and try to decipher from

Exercise and Crohn’s Disease

by Judi on August 11, 2008

It’s easy to get lazy when you are in pain.  When I’m not feeling well, I don’t want to play in the backyard with the kids, let alone go for a walk or anything else.

My husband has been taking the boys are walks at a Grant Park, a nature reserve near our house. I’ve been

Freebies for Crohn’s (IBS)

by Judi on August 11, 2008

For my crohn’s disease, there doesn’t seem to be any specific foods that irritate, or even that specifically soothe.  Well, no.. I can’t say that.. I know that when I’m feeling particularly poorly, there are some foods I definitely want to stay away from… like anything gas-causing (beans, onions, some veggies), salads, high acid (like

Diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease

by Judi on February 22, 2008

At 37 years old, and an otherwise healthy wife and mom of 4, I was officially diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.
Over all, it was simple to diagnose, it was just a matter of my not having insurance and suffering for several months before my body finally said, “Listen, you must do something and do it now!”.
